Beautiful Narcoossee, Florida is located in the heart of Central Florida where small town charm is as common as the warm weather that surrounds it. An Indian word meaning “little bear,” Narcoossee was settled in 1884 by a group of English immigrants who were enticed with newspaper ads throughout England and the United States promising high incomes in the growing citrus industry of this area. The Battle of Narcoossee Mill is famous in these parts; not because it actually happened, but because of the annual Civil War Reenactment that brings people from all over to relive a part of our nation’s history. Held in the Chisholm Park campgrounds, actors dress, live, and do battle just as Civil War soldiers did almost 150 years ago. The Battle of Narcoossee Mill is held every spring.

Chisholm Park offers many opportunities for residents throughout the year to enjoy the warm climate of Central Florida with a playground, ball fields, volleyball area, boat ramp and a beach area. Chisholm Park has approximately two miles of hiking and horse trails next to the lake. The fourteenth largest lake in Florida, East Lake Toho as the locals call it, is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and is popular for all types of water sports including boating, trophy bass fishing, and water skiing.

Narcoossee’s rural charm so close to major cities is popular with real estate buyers. Traditional single-family homes as well as Florida-style homes are common in this quaint area.
