Leesburg is a picturesque community that is located between two beautiful lakes, Lake Harris and Lake Griffin. Superbly sited, Leesburg is placed approximately 50 miles from the Orlando metropolis that is renowned for its amazing restaurants, shops, and of course, theme parks including Universal Studios, Sea World, and Disney World. Leesburg is approximately one hour and thirty minutes from the beautiful beaches of Daytona. Leesburg boasts many lovely parks including Venetian Gardens, a 110-acre park with amenities such as a public swimming pool, ball field, walking paths around Lake Harris, and more. Venetian Gardens has pedestrian bridges that lead to remote islands that have breathtaking views of Lake Harris.

Leesburg was named after the town’s founder, Evander Lee, who moved to this warm Central Florida locale in 1857 looking for a warmer climate for his rheumatism. Today Leesburg is a thriving small town of approximately 18,540 residents. Leesburg’s growing economy has many job opportunities close to home as well as amenities including numerous restaurants and shops like the Lake Square Mall that has 80 specialty stores and 12 movie theaters.

This small town has some big city perks including its own airport. Leesburg’s Regional Airport has a 4,950 and a 6,000-foot lighted runways, tie down, hanger facilities, and helicopter operations for the general aviation pilot. This convenient airport offers flight training for anyone interested in learning as well as offering private and charter fights.

This delightful community has many planned festivities throughout the year including a Mardi Gras celebration and parade, a bike fest, a Fine Art Festival, and holiday celebrations. Residents and visitors of Leesburg will enjoy the downtown renovations of many historical buildings that are now occupied with new businesses such as gift shops, antique stores, and restaurants.

Leesburg is part of Lake County’s Public School System and there are 11 schools within Leesburg. Higher education can be achieved close to home through Lake-Sumter Community College located in Leesburg.
