There is no place quite like Downtown Orlando. Excitement and fun fill this beautiful city that is sought by so many from around the world. Whatever you are looking for, Downtown Orlando is sure to have it! Downtown living is amazing with opportunities to experience art and culture; shopping at high-end department stores or finding bargains at the numerous outlets throughout the city; dining at casual sidewalk cafes or candle-lit formal dining; taking in an Orlando Magic basketball game; theme parks; or dancing the night away at any one of Downtown Orlando’s many entertainment venues, Orlando never disappoints.

Savor serene, warm Central Florida days in numerous parks located throughout the downtown. One of the most photographed parks in Downtown Orlando is Lake Eola that boasts an impressive fountain, charming swan-shaped paddle boats, and electric gondola boats that visitors can enjoy. Residents and tourists to Lake Eola Park can feed the birds, delight in a concert in the Walt Disney Amphitheater, or stop and smell the flowers at this fantastic retreat within the city.

Year-round warm, sunny weather means lots of chances to get outside and play. For children, Downtown Orlando has many athletic programs including cheerleading, football, track, baseball, and basketball. Adults can play too through the city’s adult sports programs that are basketball, flag football, and softball. Downtown Orlando also has recreational, educational and social programs for older adults. The young-at-heart can enjoy two full-time older adult centers that have fitness rooms, classrooms, computer labs, and ballrooms for dancing and special events.

Named for Orlando Reeves, a U.S. soldier who was killed in 1835, this tourist-friendly town was once a sleepy cow community. Lake Eola was once used as a watering hole for cattle around the 1850s. In July, 1875 by a vote of 22 men from the 85 residents, the City of Orlando was officially incorporated.

Today, it’s hard to find cattle within Downtown Orlando, but amazing urban real estate is abundant throughout town. Hundreds of apartments, townhomes, and single-family residences are perfectly placed throughout Orlando. Home prices in the convenient downtown area on average range from $334,000 to $2,000,000. Less expensive homes can be found in the downtown with the help of a good realtor.

Downtown Orlando has Interstate 4 that runs through the downtown taking you to the white sand beaches of Tampa Bay that lie about one hour and thirty minutes to the west and about one hour to the east you can marvel at the wonders of space flight at Cape Canaveral. For convenient commuting in Downtown Orlando, the Lynx Bus offers routes in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties.

Part of the Orange County Public School System, Downtown Orlando has many public, private, and parochial schools. Numerous colleges are convenient in Orlando as well including Valencia Community College and the University of Central Florida.
