Named after beautiful Lake Conway on the western end of the community, Conway, Florida was a contender in the 2007 CNNmoney.com best places to live. Conway, Florida is a gorgeous, medium-size community that has an estimated population of around 16,000. Superbly sited in Orange County, Conway is located approximately 15 minutes from the metropolis of Orlando, one hour from the shores of Cocoa Beach, and one and one half hours from Tampa Bay.

Conway is close to everything that makes Central Florida famous including theme parks, golfing, shopping, and restaurants. However, residents of Conway don't have to look far for entertainment with 41 movie theaters and 3,163 restaurants within 15 miles and 162 public golf courses within 30 miles, the good folks of Conway are pretty well entertained.

Fishing is another favorite Central Florida pass time and there is fantastic fishing on the well-known Conway-Chain-of-Lake. This chain is collectively referred to as Lake Conway boasts nearly 1,800 acres of clear water and hard sand bottom that serves as home to Black Crappie, Bluegill, Shell Cracker, and Bass.

Conway has the distinction of having one of the first paved roads in Orange County. Only five roads outside of the city were created in 1915 and 1916 and they were paved nine-feet wide with brick. This paved road started in Orlando and ran east and south to Conway.

Today there is more than one paved road to get around Conway. Getting to all of these entertainment venues is convenient with the many major roads available including Interstate 4, the East/West Expressway or State Road 408, and State Road 15. The Lynx Bus Transportation System is another advantageous solution to getting around Conway. The Lynx Bus has routes, or links, throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties.

Orange County's city of Conway is a thriving urban area that is able to maintain its hometown feel. The median cost of a single-family home in Conway is approximately $308,500. Conway offers all different types of housing including condos, townhomes, single-family homes, and luxury estates.

Part of the Orange County School District, Conway has four elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools. Conway is also home to two private schools.
