Alafaya, FL Real Estate

Alafaya, Florida is a gorgeous community located just minutes from the excitement of downtown Orlando. Alafaya is a beautifully designed, planned-residential community that offers affordable housing in a growing urban environment. As part of the Orlando metropolitan area, residents of Alafaya are at Orlando's doorstep with so much to see and do including outdoor recreation, numerous employment opportunities, colleges and universities, cultural centers, theme parks, and a variety of other entertainment options, including shopping and restaurants.

Orange County, named in 1845 for the prevalent fruit in the area, was a major citrus producer for many years. Citrus production was at its peak in the early 1970s with some 80,000 acres in full bloom. The 1980s brought devastating freezes that irrevocably damaged the citrus industry in this area. While the sweet smell of orange blossoms can still be found in a few active groves, the majority of these locations are now sprouting new home developments.

The warm Central Florida climate draws many to this sought-after location that offers many different types of housing options in the form of affordable single-family home subdivisions, comfortable condos, and luxurious golf course communities. The residents of Alafaya enjoy a number of recreational amenities within their own neighborhoods including tennis, basketball, swimming, playgrounds, and walking trails.

New home construction is abundant in Alafaya with all different types of styles including urban, traditional, Florida-style, and Spanish-inspired architecture. The average price of a single-family home is approximately $215,000 to $400,000; townhomes and condos range from $149,000 to $175,000.

Alafaya's super close proximity to Orlando means a shorter drive time for commuters, who are just minutes from Interstate 4. However, if you prefer to let someone else do the driving, the Lynx Bus System offers commuters a convenient low-stress alternative to getting to work within and around Orange County.

Alafaya is part of the Orange County Public School System which is the 12th largest school district in the United States with over 176,000 students currently enrolled. Serving Alafaya and other nearby communities are 16 public elementary schools for grades kindergarten through fifth grade; four public middle schools for sixth through eighth grades; two public high schools for ninth through twelfth grades; and three private schools.
